Turkish Aerospace Industries selects Siemens

Leveraging a complete digital twin, Turkish Aerospace Industries will strengthen its innovation and increase competitiveness

Announced today at a signing ceremony in Ankara, Turkey, Turkish Aerospace Industries has selected technology from Siemens PLM Software to implement a complete digital twin in the company’s manufacturing enterprise. Turkish Aerospace Industries has become Turkey's center of technology in design, development, modernization, manufacturing, integration and life cycle support of integrated aerospace systems, from fixed and rotary wing air platforms to unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) and satellites. Extending the partnership for an additional 11 years, Turkish Aerospace Industries plans to implement a wide variety of software from Siemens’ end-to-end digital innovation platform, including the Teamcenter® portfolio, NX™ software, the Simcenter™ solution and the Tecnomatix® portfolio, which will help deliver complex programs more quickly, reduce physical prototyping and save valuable time to market.

Using software from Siemens, we will be able to create a digital twin of our products and apply engineering simulations to these products,“Using software from Siemens, we will be able to create a digital twin of our products and apply engineering simulations to these products,” said Temel Kotil, president and CEO of Turkish Aerospace Industries, Inc. “Turkish Aerospace Industries sees exciting opportunities ahead for the design and production of our indigenous products, made possible by infrastructure accumulations provided by Siemens in the field of industry.’’

Faced with growing challenges in today’s market, including increasingly complex programs, changing customer priorities, increased competition and increased regulatory requirements, aerospace and defense companies such as Turkish Aerospace Industries must continue to innovate to achieve success. In order to maintain position as a leader in the industry, Turkish Aerospace Industries requires an end-to-end digital innovation strategy, which can create comprehensive and precise digital models of products and production operations. These digital twins provide detailed insight into all aspects of decision making for product development and production operations. Turkish Aerospace Industries looks to Siemens as a leader in digitalization and innovation, with the right technology and vision to align with their goals to speed up development, optimize manufacturing and use the insight gained from product and plant operations to improve future performance.

“The agreement with Siemens PLM Software will help ensure rapid implementation of the current Turkish Aerospace Industries projects and will keep product data safe and secured,” added Kotil. “Our partnership aims to reduce the time-to-market period for our projects. Therefore, our company will deliver the products to the customers in a shorter space of time. Different groups working on the same project will be able to operate on the same data. Thus, design and production activities will be synchronized, and manufacturing errors can be reduced.”

“Turkish Aerospace Industries has quickly grown into a leader in the aerospace and defense market, and implementing a digital twin for design, manufacturing and systems performance will only help increase the company’s competitiveness,” said Tony Hemmelgarn, president and CEO, Siemens PLM Software. “Using an integrated digital innovation platform can help test and verify system performance earlier in manufacturing, reducing physical prototyping and saving time and errors. Using an optimized manufacturing process will ultimately help Turkish Aerospace Industries deliver more innovative and robust solutions to their helicopter, UAV and aircraft customers.”
