Every industry we serve – from aerospace and automotive, to electronic design, to food and beverage – is transforming. Products are becoming smarter, more personalized, and generally easier to use and access. This paradoxically comes with a dramatic increase in complexity in how products are designed and manufactured even as the cadence of innovation speeds up. We believe engineering teams can best thrive in such environments with tools that blur the boundaries between physical and digital domains – something we have a long legacy of leading. It is part of what drove the recent Vision 2020+ reorganization at Siemens to focus on digital transformation and help companies of all sizes around the world transform into digital enterprises.
Today at the 2019 Siemens Media & Analyst Conference in New York we formally announced that the name of our company is changing from Siemens PLM Software to Siemens Digital Industries Software. This new name not only reflects our new position inside the core operating company of Siemens Digital Industries, but also how we’ve evolved from the industry leader in Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) to the company with broadest portfolio of industrial software and services that is the foundation for digitalization strategies at companies around the world. Across all multiple industry segments and geographies, companies of all sizes are choosing to partner with Siemens and to select our software as the foundation of their digitalization strategy. Our broad portfolio of software enables unique, industry-specific workflows and helps companies tackle complexity.
Complexity, innovation and a mission to help transform companies into digital enterprises – these also lie at the core of today’s introduction of Xcelerator, a new integrated portfolio of software, services and an application development platform that combined will deliver on the promise of the Digital Enterprise. Xcelerator combines our full portfolio of software – from electronic design automation through product lifecycle management, including design, simulation and manufacturing, with the industry-leading low-code Mendix multi-experience platform and MindSphere for IoT. The Mendix platform will drive deep integration across the Xcelerator portfolio and enables anyone in the ecosystem, including citizen developers and engineers, to easily build, integrate and extend their existing data and systems and to find new ways to leverage that data to deliver value to customers and partners.
Xcelerator is not the design, engineering and manufacturing software of tomorrow – it is the promise of a digital future of industry delivered today -- and it's world-unique in providing insights and data to adapt products to consumer preference; merging the virtual and real worlds in software, hardware, design and manufacturing; and offering the most open and flexible ecosystem in industrial software, both in terms of our growing set of rapid application development services and cloud offerings, and also the access we provide to an array of technology partners.
To our customers, partners, employees and friends – welcome to Siemens Digital Industries Software: Where Today Meets Tomorrow.
